Wenger: Giroud red-carded Inappropriate
London – Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger talk about the expulsion of Olivier Giroud when Arsenal host Queens Park Rangers. Wenger assess what Giroud deserved red card.
Arsenal host QPR in the Boxing Day game at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday (12/27/2014) pm dawn. The Gunners won 2-1 thanks to goals from Alexis Sanchez and Tomas Rosicky.
Despite win, Arsenal have closed the game with 10 men after Giroud sent off in the 53rd minute. French striker was given a straight red card by referee Martin Atkinson for gore Nedum Onuoha.
Wenger admits that what Giroud deserved red card. He also denies the expulsion Giroud interfere with the dynamics of the game of his team.
“From the time he was expelled, we know we are in a battle,” said Wenger told BT Sport after the match.
“It was a decent red card, Olivier did not control himself. It really changes the dynamics of the game, we were in complete control at that point, and quite comfortable.”
“Olivier is a man who, when he makes a mistake, he stood up and admit it,” said Wenger added.
