Djokovic First to Quarterfinals
New York – Top seed Novak Djokovic became the first man who made it through to the quarter-US Open 2014, after maintaining the momentum with a win over Philipp Kohlschreiber.
In Louis Armstrong Stadium, Tuesday (02/09/2014) pm dawn, the world number one crush Serbian Kohlschreiber in just over two hours with a final score of 6-1, 7-5, 6-4.
Djokovic qualified for the quarter-finals in this tournament for the eighth time in a row and is looking for his fifth straight final.
“I’m obviously very happy I got to the quarterfinals of the break-out so much in a Grand Slam,” said Djokovic, who quoted from the official website of the ATP.
“It shows that I judge these tournaments as the highest and always try to show my best game.”
For a place in the semi-finals, Djokovic will face the winner of the match between Andy Murray or Jo–Wilfried Tsonga, who when the news was revealed is entering the third set.
In an attempt to qualify for the five top party this tournament, Djokovic once became the new champion by beating Rafael Nadal in 2011.
